Today, Tuesday, the Algerian Ministry of Defense denied recent media reports that its armed forces conducted joint maneuvers with their Russian counterparts near the Moroccan border during this November.

Algerian state television transmitted a statement by the Ministry of Defense, which said: "International media recently reported on the implementation of a joint Algerian-Russian tactical exercise for the ground forces in the fight against terrorism in the south of the country."

The statement added, "In this regard, the Ministry of Defense clarifies that this joint military exercise, which was programmed as part of cooperation activities with the Russian army in the framework of combating terrorism, was not carried out," without explaining the reason for that or whether it was canceled or postponed. .

He explained that all military exercises with the Russian side or with any other partner are announced by the ministry only.

International media, including Russian ones, had announced a few days ago that the Algerian and Russian armies had organized joint maneuvers in the Bechar region, in southwestern Algeria, adjacent to the Moroccan border, between 16 and 28 November. However, the Algerian Ministry of Defense and even the local media did not announce these military maneuvers.

Last October, the Algerian Navy conducted joint exercises with its Russian counterpart in the Mediterranean Sea, which lasted for 4 days.
