It appears that Nintendo is working on a patent for a new controller that includes a magnetic analog stick, which some have suggested is a follow-on to the Switch 2 that will raise hopes that the company's new generation controller will not suffer from drift issues.

Laura Kate Dale said on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that if this patent relates to the controller of the upcoming Switch 2 device, this should end the problems of analog stick slippage with the new generation of Nintendo devices.

Nintendo filed the patent with the US Patent Office in May, but it was published on September 7. It describes the inner workings of an analog stick that uses a magnetic field to communicate movement, also known as a Hall Effect joystick.

This technology, which will be used through what was shown in the patent, is different from the technology used in the Joy-Con of the current Switch device, which uses plastic circuit boards that can show significant wear in the contact points of the joystick, just like the rest of the controller from other companies.

It is said that during private and closed meetings at Gamescom 2023, Nintendo revealed a group of new technical renders for the Switch 2 platform.

According to Felipe Lima, editor-in-chief of Universo Nintendo, the new Nintendo console will be launched with 12GB of RAM, surpassing Microsoft's Sears S. The PS5 and Xbox Series Series S has 10 GB of RAM.

Lima also claims that the Matrix Awakens demo that Nintendo allegedly showed to developers at Gamescom was using DLSS 3.1 and not DLSS 3.5, confirming what some reports have claimed about ray tracing support.
