[Politics] Overflows due to 18-O: "We would not have reached the Constituent Process if the government reacted sooner"

This Wednesday, October 18, marks four years since the social outbreak, and the former Minister of Defense during the period of Sebastián Piñera and member of National Renewal, Mario Desbordes, addressed the shortcomings that the Government had during that period in 2019.

"It is very likely that we would not have reached a Constituent Process if the government had reacted in the first two weeks and had agreed to make other reforms where the opposition had also given up a lot," said the former parliamentarian.

 

 

In conversation with Radio Pauta, he assured that the government of former President Sebastián Piñera lost the opportunity to carry out reforms with the current Constitution, since as the weeks progressed, the "opposition returned to its trenches, they backed down, the politicians lost the shock of what was happening and everyone went back to their own thing.

However, Desbordes was emphatic in accusing the Communist Party and the Frente Amplio of trying to "take down" the cabinet.
