During this month, specifically on the twenty-eighth of December, a file for the game Horizon Forbidden West named “TestGame” was leaked, but after a while we noticed that it was not a new game or something. In fact, it's an alpha leak for the game.

The alpha build is the one that contains the game with its bugs and a full list of bugs but fortunately this build is completely locked and not usable. We have always seen this kind of leaks over the past years, but if we focus a little bit.. we will see that these games are from the previous generation and older generations, but Horizon Forbidden West is the first game of the current generation to get such kind of leaks.

This post was shared on Reddit and the publisher has even made the entire build available to share. It seems that the Decima Engine (Horizon Forbidden West's game engine) has great technology that made it easy to access the alpha build for the most skilled programmers and made the game wide open.

The leak is a major stab for the developer. It will enable users to walk around this build and get a glimpse into the inner workings of Horizon Forbidden West. This build could allow users to reverse engineer it and make an unofficial version for PC platforms.

Notably, as fans of the series have come to expect, the Horizon co-op title appears to be in development and remains an open world game, and the focus will continue to be on storytelling. As per the Head Writer job description: “Our writers are driven to push the boundaries of dramatic storytelling in open-world games. We want players to feel hooked on our missions and characters, enjoy the always-on dialogue, and enjoy our stories for a long time.” We hope to see more about this unique project.
