The first full week of 2023 has been a wild ride, and after a weird Monday in which every developer and their mama seemed to be announcing that they would be announcing an announcement at a later date, we've been flooded with practically more news than we can fit within out virtual pages. There's been so much going on that it's admittedly hard to find a theme here (other than "we're swamped"), so if your favorite story of the week didn't make the cut, don't feel bad there's ben a lot to cover.

We'll begin in the world of gaming, where Cyberpunk 2077 is having a lot of ups and downs. After being recognized with Steam's Labor of Love award for the care that's gone into building it into a top title, a lot of gamers are review-bombing it with low scores in some sort of Internet justice act for its disastrous 2020 launch. At least its legal issues seem to be wrapping up, as its developers and investors have settled a $1.85 million lawsuit.

Over in Nintendoland (not to be confused with Super Nintendo World, which has its own issues), Fire Emblem Engage has been giving us plenty to talk about, with its entire opening cinematic debuting online and a new healer character stepping into the spotlight.

In indie gaming, surprise success Goose Goose Duck has surpassed all expectations, going so far as to surpass Among Us' all-time-high concurrent player record. And speaking of concurrent players, Steam has had a big week too, going above 10 million active users at once for the first time.

Atomic Heart has bared its arsenal and game world to us in a new trailer, and its director has revealed exciting plans for what's to come down the road. Meanwhile, Elden Ring is still brining in the accolades. Even after being calculated as the most-awarded Game of the Year winner in history, it went ahead and picked up another Game of the Year award from Steam users.
