[Anime]Crunchyroll Announces Major Update for Fans of the Longest-Running Magical Girl Anime

While it might not be as well known in the West, Pretty Cure (or PreCure) is one of the most popular magical girl anime franchises out there. Now, another entry in the series is being added to the world's biggest anime streaming service.

Witchy Pretty Cure!! Mirai Days is the sequel to Witchy Pretty Cure!! and the latest part of the franchise. Following up a show that's itself almost a decade old, the anime's initial episodes have already been released. It also comes one month before another take on the concept is set to be revealed.

As noted, Witchy Pretty Cure!! Mirai Days is set after the events of Witchy Pretty Cure!!, which is based on the concepts of friendship, magic and jewelry. Produced by Toei Animation and Studio Deen, the show's cast includes talent such as Rie Takahashi, who returns from the preceding show. Many other familiar characters will also be present, alongside a new character named Hisui. Likewise, Isao Murayama from the previous series and Star Twinkle Precure is coming back to overlook the scripts of the new show. Rie Kitagawa is another returning talent, having already provided the theme song for Witchy Pretty Cure!! and is doing so for the sequel as well. The series was originally announced in 2023 and was supposed to be released the following year, but it instead debuted in Japan on Jan. 17, 2025.

Witchy Pretty Cure!! Mirai Days is part of an anniversary project celebrating 20 years of the franchise as a whole, explaining its intended release date. The series is airing alongside Wonderful Pretty Cure!, which began its run in 2024 and will conclude on Jan. 26, 2025. It will be followed by You and Idol Pretty Cure, which begins airing on Feb. 2, 2025. Both Witchy Pretty Cure!! and Wonderful Pretty Cure! (along with other iterations of the Pretty Cure franchise) are streaming on Crunchyroll, so fans can watch each show and catch up before checking out both Witchy Pretty Cure!! Mirai Days and the next part of the magical-girl series. New episodes of Mirai Days air on Saturdays for a total of 12 episodes, leaving 10 more episodes left in the series for fans to enjoy as of writing.
