Genshin Impact players have pointed out that there is currently no way of testing out Chronicled Banner characters, making it difficult for new accounts to decide if they want to pull for a specific 5-Star. While the open world of Genshin Impact has garnered a lot of praise over the years, its main appeal has always been a colorful cast of characters. With each having a unique playstyle, there's bound to be a perfect Genshin Impact character for everyone.

Given that players must pull for characters on either the Limited or Standard Banners in Genshin Impact, it's vital for HoYoverse to provide a combat trial to showcase the gameplay of every featured 5-Star or 4-Star. While Story Quests also provide a chance for Genshin Impact players to test a 5-Star character, these dedicated domains can only be completed once.

The lack of a combat trial for Chronicled Banner characters in Genshin Impact was pointed out by Silly-Accountant4116 on the main subreddit. Unlike Arlecchino and Clorinde, none of the featured Chronicled Banner 5-Stars can be tested out by players – a list that includes the following characters: Baizhu, Childe, Xiao, Ganyu, Shenhe, Keqing, and Qiqi. While an argument could be made that adding trial runs for so many characters would result in free Primogems, the total number wouldn't even amount to a single pull.

The discussion evolved from asking about test runs for Chronicled Banner characters to wondering why combat trials aren't permanent. Not only does Zenless Zone Zero feature permanent trials for its characters, but Genshin Impact arguably has a much bigger cast of characters to juggle. As seen with Shenhe in Genshin Impact, some 5-Stars take almost two years to re-run, and having a permanent trial would help alleviate the long wait times while helping players make better pulling decisions.
