[Animals] Thieves were arrested because of their dog

They are accompanied by their pet when they go to rob a house. The dog was captured by various surveillance cameras, which made it possible to identify the address of the criminals.

A dog that is the pet of two criminals became the key that allowed the police to identify and arrest both subjects for a robbery that last week affected a home in the city of Coyhaique, the capital of Aysén.

As explained by the PDI, on February 28 the thugs took the dog on their criminal journey, and it was recorded by different security cameras in the commune, which later made it easier to trace the round trip of the group to their own home.

"It is established through different surveillance cameras that these people were accompanied by a dog, an antecedent that was relevant to the investigative process," said the sub-prefect Víctor Toledo.

"Within the criminal dynamics, this animal was also transferred from the site of the event to the property where the perpetrators of the act live, allowing to establish the addresses and position these defendants at the site of the event," said the officer.

 

 

The defendants -a 27-year-old foreigner and an 18-year-old Chilean- entered the property by jumping over a wall and forcing access, stealing goods valued at 10 million pesos, including medical items, electronics and jewelry.

"Thanks to the procedures and follow-ups carried out by the PDI, the identification of the two individuals who participated in this robbery and the recovery of all the species was achieved," said prosecutor José Moris.

"The defendants were formalized for robbery in an inhabited place and, as drugs were found at the time of their arrest, they were also charged with drug trafficking": 640 doses of cannabis and 3.2 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, valued at three million 440 thousand pesos, in addition to cash, were seized in the procedure.

The two thieves were subjected to the precautionary measure of preventive detention.
