Google has announced that it will delete all inactive accounts that have not been used in the past two years or so. According to the company, accounts that are not updated are more prone to password breaches and have not opted for two-factor authentication. Google planning to delete accounts that have not been used in two years, sign in to restore As mentioned earlier, Google will delete accounts that have not been used or signed into in the past two years. What this means is that all of the information and data associated with the Google account will be deleted permanently. This includes Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Meet, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Photos. If you have an account that you have not used in the past few years, it is advised that you either sign into it or create a backup of the data before it is permanently deleted. The company mentioned that the change will only affect personal accounts, and business accounts will not be affected. If your account is associated with a business or school, your Google Account will not be deleted. As for when the company will begin the deletion process, the company has given a deadline of later this year, starting in December. Google has also provided recommendations to users who wish to keep their Google accounts active. In order to keep your account from deleting, Google recommends users sign into their account once. If you do not regularly use your account, it is best you log into it every two years just to be on the safe side. Additionally, it is vital for you to opt into the company's two-factor authentication to keep your account secure from any potential threats. If you have an unused Google account, the company will potentially send you an email on the host account as well as the recovery account, reminding you that the account will be deleted if not signed in by December 2023.
