[News] Peruvian jungle supports from today until Wednesday 24 extreme intensity rains

The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) reported that from today, Monday, May 22 to Wednesday, May 24, there will be moderate to extreme intensity rains in the Selva area.

In the Information Bulletin of the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), it was indicated that the precipitations will be accompanied by electrical discharges and gusts of wind, with speeds greater than 40 kilometers per hour. and, during this period, accumulated rainfall of over 50 mm/day is expected in the northern jungle.

This Senamhi forecast indicates that in the case of the central jungle, the rains will be above 40 mm/day and in the southern jungle above 30 mm/day. Also, cloud cover is expected during the day.

Likewise, the weather conditions, the Meteorology and Hydrology Service, indicated that for today Monday temperatures close to -5°C are expected in the central sierra and values close to -15°C in localities over 4,000 meters above the level of sea in the southern sierra.

On the other hand, the COEN also referred to the flooding in the Nicolás de Piérola district, in the Arequipa Region and points out that the affected people have already received the corresponding humanitarian aid.

The flooding occurred on May 20 in the Camaná, Mariscal Cáceres, José María Quimper, Samuel Pastor and Nicolás de Piérola sectors, in the aforementioned district, Camaná province.

After the corresponding evaluations of the damages and the respective coordination, the district municipality delivered humanitarian aid goods (BAH) to the affected people (coat), as well as 30 breakfasts, 30 lunches and 25 boxes of water.

Finally, municipal personnel, with the help of heavy machinery, are cleaning the affected road and continue with the Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (EDAN). At the moment, no damage to the life and health of people has been reported, as specified through the COEN Bulletin.
